What is Levitra?

Levitra is a branded prescription-only medication used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. It contains the active ingredient vardenafil, which is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitor that works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help achieve and maintain an erection when sexually aroused. The branded Levitra was discontinued in 2021, but generic vardenafil remains available with a prescription.

Key points:

  • Vardenafil requires sexual stimulation to work and does not increase sex drive.
  • It is available in 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg tablet strengths.
  • Effects typically start within 25-60 minutes and last up to 4-6 hours..
