How to find the perfect products for you with tags and filters
We know that some products are better for the planet than others, so we make sure we stock sustainable and animal-friendly products for you. We’re always adding new zero-waste, organic, cruelty-free and vegan products and brands – from solid shampoo to plastic-free period products – so that you have the option to go green wherever you can.
We also know that you might have certain needs that mean you have to be quite picky with your products: we’re talking about Gluten-Free, Lactose-Free, Halal products and more.
That’s why we want to make it as easy as possible for you to find planet-friendly or you-friendly products as quickly as you can. On our product pages, within the description, you’ll find Tags which let you quickly know whether a product is vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free and more.
When you’re searching for products or looking at the product list, you can also use the Filter button to select whichever tag you like. That’ll show you all products that fit your selection, so you can have a browse of everything that you know will work for you.
Currently, our tags include: Vegan, Vegetarian, Organic, Halal, Gluten-Free, Cruelty-Free, Sensitive Skin, Zero Waste, and Over The Counter (OTC). We update and add to our tags regularly, to make sure you’re as informed as possible.
Need a little more info? Here’s the rundown on what our tags mean.
Vegan
When you see the Vegan tag on a product, you’ll know that no animal products have been used to create it or are present in that product at all (including silk or dyes from insects). It also means that no animal experiments can take place while the product is being manufactured or developed, either. If it’s a vegan food item, your product will have been prepared in kitchens separate from where non-vegan dishes are prepared.
Vegetarian
The Vegetarian tag means that while there may be animal-derived products within the product, they’ll only be those that can be extracted without harm: such as lanolin, a wax that comes from sheep’s wool, or beeswax. Vegetarian products do not contain any meat products or ingredients such as fish oil. They also follow the standard of no animal-testing during development or manufacturing.
Organic
Our Organic tag (usually in skincare, beauty and supplements) refers to the formulation of products using only natural, organically-farmed ingredients. These ingredients are grown without the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), herbicides, synthetic fertilisers and more. In organic products, you’ll find all natural ingredients without tough chemicals – and usually without parabens, phthalates, synthetic colours, dyes or fragrances. Please check the ingredients of any products labelled organic, as we can’t guarantee all of them will follow these rules and not have these ingredients.
Organic products usually go hand-in-hand with no animal testing, too, and are generally sustainably sourced.
Zero Waste
Do you hate unnecessary plastic or tons of packaging that can’t be recycled? We hear you. Our Zero Waste tag is for products that are focused on waste prevention – the goal is for no trash to be sent to ladfills, incinerators or the ocean. Packaging is typically fully recyclable and usually reused (such as reused, recyclable bamboo), and you won’t find any plastic or non-recyclable packaging or ingredients. Zero Waste often means that packaging can often be composted, too (look out for that in the product description!), and the product itself is designed to be used more than once or many times.
Cruelty-Free
Our Cruelty-Free tag helps to put your mind at ease with how the product has been produced: when you see this tag, you can be certain that no animals were harmed in the making or production of that product. This means that the product and its ingredients haven’t been tested on animals at any point.
Gluten-Free
From supplements to skincare, gluten can be found in a surprisingly large amount of products. Gluten-Free products don’t contain gluten or wheat, so if you have an allergy or sensitivity to either, you’ll be able to stay safe in the knowledge anything tagged with this is safe for you to use or have.Lactose-Free
If you have a sensitivity or allergy to lactose, you’re probably used to avoiding dairy – but you might find it a bit trickier to do so with your supplements, skincare and more. Our Lactose-Free tag will hopefully help to make this easier for you, whether you’re looking for lactose-free hayfever tablets or moisturiser. Lactose-Free usually means Vegan, too, as both avoid dairy products – as always, check the tags and ingredients first though!
