Description
Aptamil Pepti 1 is a specialist powdered infant formula in a 400g tin, made for the dietary management of cow's milk allergy (CMA) from birth. Its milk protein is extensively hydrolysed, meaning it has been broken down to reduce the likelihood of causing an allergic reaction, and it is a nutritionally complete formula that must be used under medical supervision.
Key Features
- Extensively hydrolysed whey protein: The milk protein is broken down (hydrolysed) to reduce the likelihood of it causing an allergic reaction.
- Suitable from birth: A nutritionally complete formula for babies with cow's milk allergy, from birth.
- Used under medical supervision: A food for special medical purposes, to be used only on the advice of a doctor or healthcare professional.
- GOS and FOS: Contains galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) and fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), which give 0.6g of fibre per 100ml of prepared feed.
- DHA and ARA: Provides 0.017g of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and 0.017g of arachidonic acid (AA) per 100ml of prepared feed.
Who is Aptamil Pepti 1 for?
Aptamil Pepti 1 is designed for infants with cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA), where the immune system reacts to the proteins in cow's milk. See a GP for a diagnosis before switching to a specialist formula.
Do I need a prescription for Aptamil Pepti 1?
It is a food for special medical purposes and should only be used under medical supervision, after full consideration of the feeding options available, including breastfeeding. If you think your baby has cow's milk protein allergy, speak to your GP or healthcare professional.
What is the difference between Aptamil Pepti and Aptamil Lactose Free?
Aptamil Lactose Free is for infants with lactose intolerance, where a baby cannot digest the sugar (lactose) in cow's milk. Aptamil Pepti is for cow's milk protein allergy, where the immune system reacts to the proteins in cow's milk.
Can I change my baby's formula without advice?
Speak to a healthcare professional before changing your baby's formula, particularly when moving to a specialist product. They can advise on the most suitable product and how to make the change.
