What is Canesten Thrush External Cream used for?
Canesten Thrush External Cream is used for the relief of irritation of the vulva caused by vaginal thrush (candidiasis). It contains the active ingredient clotrimazole, an antifungal agent that fights the cause of infections such as vaginal thrush. It cannot treat any internal causes of the infection and is not to be used unless you have been diagnosed by a doctor as having vaginal thrush.
Who should not use Canesten Thrush External Cream?
Canesten Thrush External Cream should not be used if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients, including cetostearyl alcohol or benzyl alcohol. Additionally, you should see a doctor before using this product if you are unsure whether you have thrush, have had more than two infections in the last six months, have a sexually transmitted disease, are under 16 or over 60, have ever had an allergic reaction to Canesten or any other vaginal antifungal products, or have any symptoms such as irregular vaginal bleeding, pain or difficulty in passing urine, fever or chills, or a foul-smelling discharge from the vagina.

Usage and Instructions
Wash your hands before and after using the cream. Apply the cream thinly to affected areas 2 or 3 times a day and rub in gently. Treatment should be continued for up to one week after treating the internal infection in women and for two weeks in men. If symptoms persist consult your doctor.
Before using the Canesten Thrush Cream, you should see your doctor if:
You have had more than two infections of thrush in the last six months.
You or your partner have ever had a sexually transmitted disease.
You are aged under 16 or over 60 years.
You have ever had an allergic reaction to Canesten or any other vaginal antifungal product.
If you are pregnant or trying for a baby, tell your doctor or midwife before using Canesten Thrush Cream.
You may experience a mild burning or irritation immediately after application. If this is intolerable, stop the treatment and tell your doctor.
