What is an emollient and how does it work?
An emollient is a skin care ingredient that softens dry, rough, and flakey skin. When the top layer of your skin lacks moisture, it can dry out and cause cracking and flaking. Emollients fill the gaps between skin cells with fatty substances, called lipids, which make your skin smoother and softer. Emollients that contain a lot of oil also act as occlusive agents, forming a thin oily film that helps to retain moisture in the skin, keeping it hydrated for a longer period. Although emollients are often used in moisturisers, they are not the same thing - they are simply one of the ingredients that help to keep skin soft and smooth.
What are the active ingredients in Dermol Bath Emoliient and how do they work?

Usage and Instructions
For adults, older children and the elderly, shake the bottle before use and add up to 30 ml to a normal sized bath filled with warm water. Cover the affected areas of skin with the bath water and soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Pat the skin dry with a soft towel, avoiding rubbing with the towel because this makes dry skin conditions worse. For babies and younger children, shake the bottle before use and add up to 15 ml to a small bath of warm water or wash basin. Submerge the affected areas of skin and soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Alternatively, repeatedly sponge the water over the affected skin areas. Pat the skin dry with a soft towel, avoiding rubbing with the towel because this makes dry skin conditions worse.
Side Effects
In some very rare cases, Dermol 600 Bath Emollient can cause local skin reactions, involving redness, irritation and/or itching. If your skin condition seems to look or feel worse, or if any of the side effects become unacceptable, or you notice any other side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, stop using the bath emollient and tell your doctor or pharmacist.
