GlucoRX Aidex CGM Transmitter
What 500,000+ customers say about medino:
Description
The GlucoRx AiDEX Transmitter is the reusable part of the GlucoRx AiDEX continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system. It clips onto a GlucoRx AiDEX sensor worn on your body and sends your glucose readings by Bluetooth to the GlucoRx AiDEX app on your smartphone. The transmitter lasts up to 4 years, while each sensor lasts 14 days, so you replace only the sensor each time.
Key Features
- Reusable for up to 4 years: You remove the transmitter from the sensor base when a sensor expires and attach it to the next sensor.
- Readings every 5 minutes: Real-time glucose readings update in the app every 5 minutes once the 60-minute sensor warm-up has finished.
- Stores readings if the connection drops: If the app loses the signal, readings are held in the transmitter and sent to the app when the connection returns.
- Water resistant to IPX7: The sensor and transmitter can be in up to 1 metre of water for a maximum of 30 minutes.
- Works with your smartphone: The system needs an Android or iOS smartphone. iPhone 6 and newer are compatible, and Android phones should be checked against the GlucoRx compatibility list.
Does the transmitter come with sensors?
No. The transmitter is sold on its own and works with GlucoRx AiDEX sensors, which are bought separately. The GlucoRx AiDEX starter kit includes a transmitter and 2 sensors.
How long is the warm-up after applying a sensor?
After you pair the transmitter with a new sensor, the sensor needs 60 minutes to warm up. No readings are available during this time, and skipping the warm-up on a new sensor can lead to inaccurate readings.
Can I swim or shower with it?
The sensor and transmitter are water resistant to IPX7, so they can be in up to 1 metre of water for a maximum of 30 minutes. After applying a sensor, wait at least 20 minutes before swimming or athletic activities.
Who can use the GlucoRx AiDEX system?
The system is indicated for people aged 14 years or older who have diabetes and need regular glucose monitoring, at home or in healthcare facilities. See Warnings for the groups it is not suitable for.
Usage and Instructions
Follow these steps to set up and use the transmitter with a GlucoRx AiDEX sensor:
- Set up the GlucoRx AiDEX app on your smartphone and turn on Bluetooth.
- Pair the transmitter in the app under Settings, then Transmitter, by entering the serial number code or scanning the QR code on the transmitter package. The transmitter and phone communicate within 2 metres when nothing is in the way.
- Choose a hair-free sensor site. The abdomen and the outside or back of the upper arm are recommended. Clean the skin with an alcohol pad and wait a minute for it to dry.
- Check the sensor has not expired and its sterile package is undamaged, then open it. Remove the applicator by turning it anti-clockwise, press it firmly against the skin and press the button to launch the sensor. Wait a few seconds for the base patch to stick, then remove the applicator.
- Line up the transmitter with the sensor base and press it on firmly until it snaps into place.
- Pair the sensor and transmitter with the app within 30 minutes of applying the sensor, or the sensor will expire.
- Wait 60 minutes for the sensor to warm up. Readings then appear in the app every 5 minutes.
- When the app shows the sensor has expired, peel the sensor off the skin. Press the two locking arms on one side of the sensor base and pull the transmitter away so you can use it again. Each sensor is single use.
Rotate sensor sites regularly. To clean the transmitter, wipe it with a mild detergent and a soft damp cloth, then disinfect it with an alcohol wipe. Do not use solvents, do not apply lubricant, and keep the connection port clean and dry.
Warnings
The GlucoRx AiDEX system is not suitable for everyone, and the following apply:
- Do not use the system if you are below the age of 14, or cannot manage your own diabetes therapy without strict supervision from parents or healthcare professionals. It is also not suitable if you have alcoholism, drug abuse or a severe mental disorder, are unconscious, are unable to understand how to use the device, or have severe hearing or vision impairment.
- Readings are a supplement to monitoring and should not be used as a basis for diagnosis. If your glucose results and alerts do not match your symptoms or expectations, use a blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.
- When glucose is changing quickly (more than 0.1 mmol/L per minute), the displayed value may differ from your actual level. If you have symptoms of low or high blood glucose, take a fingertip blood glucose test rather than relying only on the app.
- Remove the whole system before a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan.
- Severe dehydration or excessive loss of water may give inaccurate results. If you think you are dehydrated, consult a healthcare professional immediately.
- The system has not been tested in women with gestational diabetes, and its performance has not been evaluated with another implanted medical device such as a pacemaker.
- Do not skip or cancel the warm-up for a new sensor.
- Use only compatible components. If the product is damaged or not working properly, stop using it.
- The system contains small parts that can be dangerous if swallowed.
- Do not immerse the transmitter in water for longer than 30 minutes, and do not immerse it in water or other liquids when cleaning.
Side Effects
Applying a sensor can cause bruising or bleeding. If bleeding does not stop, remove the sensor and apply a new one at a different site. Using the same site repeatedly can lead to discomfort or skin irritation, and you should remove the sensor if you feel site irritation or discomfort.
