Description
GlucoRx Vivid Blood Glucose Test Strips are single-use strips for checking blood glucose with the GlucoRx Vivid meter. They use GDH-FAD enzyme technology, which avoids interference from variations in blood oxygen and has no reactivity to maltose in dialysis.
Key Features
- For the GlucoRx Vivid meter only: The strips are made for the GlucoRx Vivid meter and should be used with GlucoRx Vivid control solution. They are not for use with other meters.
- GDH-FAD enzyme technology: This enzyme chemistry avoids interference from blood oxygen variations and has no reactivity to maltose in dialysis.
- 20-60% haematocrit range: Haematocrit is the proportion of red blood cells in your blood. The strips are designed to work across a 20-60% range.
- Tests at more than one site: Blood can be taken from the finger, palm, forearm or upper arm, subject to the limits on alternative site testing in the Warnings section.
- Meets ISO 15197:2015 accuracy requirements: The GlucoRx Vivid system conforms to the accuracy requirements of this international standard for blood glucose monitoring systems.
Which meter do GlucoRx Vivid test strips work with?
They work with the GlucoRx Vivid blood glucose meter only. GlucoRx makes separate strips for its other meters, such as Nexus, Q, HCT, Smart and X6, and those are not interchangeable with Vivid strips.
Can I test from somewhere other than my fingertip?
Yes. The system can be used on the finger, palm, forearm and upper arm. Blood from the fingertip reflects changes in glucose faster than blood from other sites, so use a fingertip sample during or straight after a meal, exercise or any other event. Speak to your healthcare professional before using alternative sites.
Can these strips diagnose diabetes?
No. The system is not intended to diagnose or screen for diabetes. It is used by people with diabetes at home, and by healthcare professionals, as an aid to monitoring how well diabetes is controlled. It is not for use on newborns.
What type of blood sample do they use?
Fresh capillary whole blood, which is the drop of blood from a lancing device. Home use is limited to capillary blood. Healthcare professionals may also test venous blood.
Usage and Instructions
- Check that the meter is off, then insert a strip into the test slot of the GlucoRx Vivid meter with the contact bars end first and facing up. Push it in firmly until it stops. The meter switches on.
- Wait for the blood drop symbol to appear, then press M to select the measuring mode.
- Use your lancing device to puncture your chosen site. Wipe away the first drop of blood with a clean cotton swab, then gently squeeze the area to obtain another drop. Take care not to smear it. Use the clear cap for sites other than the fingers.
- Touch the drop of blood to the absorbent hole of the strip at a tilted angle. Keep it there until you hear a beep. The confirmation window should be completely filled.
- If the confirmation window is not filled, you can add more blood to the same strip while the blinking blood drop symbol is displayed. If the meter shows an E-F error, discard the strip and test again with a new one.
- Read the result. It is stored in the meter memory automatically.
- Remove the strip to switch the meter off, and dispose of the used strip and lancet carefully according to local regulations.
Test within an operating temperature of 10°C to 40°C. If you do not apply blood within 3 minutes, the meter switches off, and you need to remove the strip and reinsert it to restart.
Warnings
Please note the following:
- These strips are for external (in vitro) diagnostic use only. They are not intended to diagnose or screen for diabetes, or for use on newborns.
- Do not change your treatment based on a result without first consulting your healthcare professional.
- Use only GlucoRx Vivid test strips and control solution with the GlucoRx Vivid meter.
- Do not reuse a strip. A used strip causes an error message.
- Home testing is limited to capillary whole blood. Venous samples are for healthcare professionals only.
- If control solution results fall outside the range printed on the test strip vial, do not test your blood. Contact GlucoRx.
- Never share a lancet or the lancing device. The GlucoRx lancing device is for self-use only.
- Alternative site testing has limitations, so consult your healthcare professional before using it. Take a fingertip sample only during or straight after a meal, exercise or any other event.
- Do not use alternative site testing if you think your blood glucose is low, you are unaware of hypoglycaemia, you are testing for hyperglycaemia, results do not match how you feel, or your results often fluctuate.
- Use alternative sites only before a meal or when fasting (more than 2 hours since your last meal), 2 hours or more after taking insulin, or 2 hours or more after exercise.
