What causes dry eye?
Dry eye can be caused by a variety of factors, but the single highest factor is ageing. As people get older, the production of tears decreases. Additionally, other causes of dry eye can include illness, hormonal changes in women after menopause and during pregnancy, poor blinking habits while reading or looking at a computer screen for long periods of time, a dry indoor environment, contact lenses, and certain medications such as tranquillizers, antihistamines, certain heart medications, diuretics, birth control pills and ulcer medications.
What is the active ingredient and how does it work?
The main active ingredient in Hyabak is sodium hyaluronate, a natural polysaccharide that holds water to hydrate and lubricates the surface of the eye. Sodium hyaluronate keeps the solution on the surface of the eyes, providing long-lasting relief and improving the rate of healing.
What symptoms or conditions can be treated with this product?
Hyabak eye drops can be used to treat dryness and discomfort caused by external factors, such as wind, smoke, pollution, dust, dry heat, air conditioning, air travel, or prolonged work in front of a computer screen/digital device. It provides immediate relief and can be used by contact lens wearers to lubricate and hydrate the lenses, facilitating placement or removal and providing comfort while wearing the lenses. The main ingredient, sodium hyaluronate, is a natural polysaccharide that hydrates and lubricates the surface of the eye, improving the rate of healing and providing long-lasting relief.
How does sodium hyaluronate in Hyabak help dry eyes?
Sodium hyaluronate in Hyabak is a hypotonic solution that addresses the hyperosmolarity of the tear film in chronic dry eye, which effectively reduces symptoms such as dryness and grittiness. It provides long-lasting relief from eye discomfort and dryness.
What makes Hyabak unique compared to other eye drops?
Hyabak is unique in that it is formulated to match the natural viscosity of tears and is a hypotonic solution that offers greater improvements than isotonic solutions. It is also delivered in a uniquely designed, preservative-free bottle for easy application, supporting the health of the ocular surface.
How long can I use Hyabak for?
Hyabak can be used for up to three months from opening, which is longer than other eye drops that require disposal after a shorter period.
Can Hyabak be used with contact lenses?
Yes, Hyabak can be used with all types of contact lenses.
How should I use Hyabak?
To use Hyabak, wash your hands thoroughly before use and do not use any tool to open the bottle. The first drop may take longer to come out due to the unique filtration system in the bottle. Apply one drop in the pocket of the eyelid, while gently pulling the lower lid down and looking up. Close the eye gently after application. For contact lens wearers, apply one drop on each lens when putting on and removing them, and also as often as necessary during the day. Before applying the contact lens, apply a drop into the inside of the lens when it is on your finger. Put the lens in as usual and blink the eye a few times to allow the solution to settle, ensuring an even distribution of Hyabak over the eye and the surface of the contact lenses. After use, replace the bottle cap.
