When should I take Sumatriptan 100mg?

Take sumatriptan as soon as possible after the migraine starts, although it can be taken at any stage during the attack. Swallow the tablet whole with water.

Can I take another Sumatriptan 100mg tablet if my migraine comes back?

Yes, if the first dose worked but the migraine returns. Leave at least 2 hours between doses and do not take more than 300mg in 24 hours.

What if Sumatriptan 100mg does not work?

If the first dose does not relieve your migraine, do not take another dose for the same attack. Sumatriptan may still be used for a future migraine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if it does not provide relief.

What are the common side effects of sumatriptan?

Active ingredient: Sumatriptan 100 mg (as sumatriptan succinate).

Other ingredients: lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, anhydrous lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, mannitol, titanium dioxide (E171), talc, triacetin (E1518).

• Take one 100 mg tablet as soon as possible after the migraine begins, swallowed whole with water.
• Do not take it to prevent a migraine attack—only use it after symptoms start.
• If the first tablet does not relieve your symptoms, do not take a second tablet for the same attack.
• If your migraine returns after initial relief, you may take a second tablet at least 2 hours after the first.
• Do not take more than 300 mg (3 tablets) in any 24-hour period.

Do not take Crescent Sumatriptan if you:

• Are allergic to sumatriptan or any of the other ingredients.
• Have heart problems (e.g., angina, heart attack, Prinzmetal’s angina).
• Have had a stroke or mini-stroke (TIA).
• Have severe liver problems.
• Have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
• Are taking or have recently taken (within 2 weeks) MAO inhibitors.

Talk to your doctor before taking if you:

• Have risk factors for heart disease (e.g., high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, family history).
• Are over 65 or under 18 years old.
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Have liver or kidney problems.
• Have a history of seizures.
• Are taking other migraine or depression medications.

Common side effects:

• Dizziness, drowsiness, tingling sensations.
• Nausea, vomiting.
• Muscle pain.
• Tightness or heaviness in the chest, throat, or other areas.

Rare but serious side effects:

• Signs of heart problems (e.g., chest pain, rapid heartbeat).
• Signs of allergic reaction (e.g., rash, swelling of the face/throat).
• Seizures.
