Usage and Instructions
NiQuitin Mini 2 mg Citrus Lozenges are intended to help adults and, following healthcare-professional advice, adolescents aged 12–17 years stop smoking. The 2 mg strength is intended for smokers who smoke 20 cigarettes or fewer per day.
Place one lozenge in the mouth and move it from one side of the mouth to the other from time to time until completely dissolved, which should take approximately 10 minutes. Do not chew the lozenge or swallow it whole.
For adults stopping smoking immediately, use one lozenge whenever you have an urge to smoke, normally 8–12 lozenges per day, for up to 6 weeks. Then gradually reduce the number used each day and stop when usage has fallen to 1–2 lozenges per day. Do not use more than 15 lozenges in any 24-hour period.
For gradual reduction, use a lozenge instead of a cigarette when you have a strong urge to smoke and reduce the number of cigarettes smoked as much as possible. If you have not reduced your smoking after 6 weeks, or have not stopped completely within 6 months, consult a healthcare professional.
Warnings
Do not use NiQuitin Mini 2 mg if you are allergic to nicotine or any of the other ingredients, are under 12 years of age, or are a non-smoker. Adolescents aged 12–17 years should only use the product following advice from a healthcare professional.
Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you have recently had a heart attack or stroke; have severe heart rhythm problems, unstable or worsening angina; are pregnant or breastfeeding; or have heart or circulation problems, diabetes, a history of serious allergic reactions, moderate or severe liver or kidney problems, an uncontrolled overactive thyroid, phaeochromocytoma, stomach or duodenal ulcers, inflammation of the oesophagus, or a history of epilepsy.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children. A normal adult dose of nicotine can seriously poison or even cause death in children. Do not eat or drink while the lozenge is in your mouth, and avoid coffee, juice and soft drinks for up to 15 minutes before use, as these may reduce nicotine absorption.
If too many lozenges are taken, symptoms may include nausea, dizziness and feeling unwell. Stop using the product and seek medical advice immediately. Nicotine overdose in children or non-smokers may cause headache, nausea, stomach pain and diarrhoea and requires urgent medical attention.
