Description
What is Wegovy
Wegovy (semaglutide) is a prescription-only once-weekly injection that may be prescribed for weight management alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It works by activating the GLP-1 receptor, a hormone involved in appetite regulation, which can help some people feel fuller and reduce hunger.
In clinical studies in adults with obesity (or overweight with weight-related health conditions), average weight reduction with semaglutide 2.4 mg alongside lifestyle measures was around 10% to 15% over about 68 weeks, although individual results vary.
More recent studies evaluating higher doses of semaglutide have reported average weight reductions of around 20% over about 72 weeks in people with obesity. Results depend on the dose used and the population studied, and weight loss varies between individuals.
Wegovy is injected once a week, on the same day each week. Each pre-filled pen contains a single weekly dose, so one pen is used each week. Dose increases should only be made according to the prescribed treatment plan following clinical review.
Eligibility (subject to clinical assessment)
Wegovy may be supplied to adults who:
- have a BMI of 30 kg/m² or above, or
- have a BMI of 27 kg/m² or above with at least one weight-related health condition (e.g. high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol (dyslipidaemia), obstructive sleep apnoea, type 2 diabetes).
Supply is only available following an online consultation to check suitability, medical history and current medicines, and a clinician's approval.
Price and service
Pricing is shown upfront and includes the online or phone clinical assessment, the medication and delivery. There are no separate consultation or delivery fees.
Delivery and what's included
If approved, your medication is dispensed by a UK-registered pharmacy and delivered in validated temperature-controlled packaging designed to help maintain appropriate refrigerated conditions in transit. Your order includes needles and usage guidance; a sharps bin can be provided if needed.
Dosage
Wegovy uses a gradual, step-by-step dosing schedule to help your body adjust and minimize potential side effects as you progress to a higher, effective dose. You’ll start at a low dose and gradually increase it every four weeks until reaching your maintenance level.
Please select the Wegovy dose recommended in your personal treatment plan, starting with the 0.25 mg dose (this product). If you're unsure about the appropriate dosage, please consult our pharmacist (pharmacy@medino.com) before placing your order.
For individuals with a BMI over 50, we advise consulting with a doctor or specialist for a comprehensive treatment plan.
Consultation Process
Our service does not include a prescription. Instead, your treatment is supplied under a legal framework known as a Patient Group Direction (PGD). The process follows these steps:
1. Complete a health questionnaire
Provide detailed information about your health, medical history, and previous weight management efforts.
2. Pharmacist review
A pharmacist will review your responses and may contact you by phone or video call if further information is required to support safe supply.
3. Private consultation
All interactions are confidential. This provides an opportunity to discuss any questions and ensure appropriate use of the treatment.
4. Identity verification
You may be asked to provide identification to confirm that you are the intended user. This is typically required for your first order only.
5. Supporting evidence
You may be asked to provide relevant information, such as confirmation of weight, height, or medical history, to support safe supply.
Your GP will be notified of your request and the outcome of the supply decision, whether the treatment is supplied or not, to support continuity of care.
Purchasing this medication does not guarantee supply. The decision to supply is made by the pharmacist based on the information provided. If supply is not appropriate, your order will be refunded.

Acute Pancreatitis:
In rare cases, our medication can cause a problem with your pancreas called acute pancreatitis. It's essential to know the symptoms of this issue. If you ever suspect you have it, stop taking the medication and talk to your doctor. If it's confirmed, don't restart the medication. Be cautious if you've had pancreatitis before.
For Patients with Diabetes:
If you have diabetes, remember that this medication isn't a replacement for insulin.
Hypoglycemia in Patients with Diabetes:
If you have diabetes and you're taking this medication along with insulin or certain other diabetes drugs, you might be at a higher risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). To reduce this risk, your doctor might adjust your insulin or other medications. We haven't studied adding this medication if you're already taking insulin.
Diabetic Retinopathy in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes:
If you have type 2 diabetes and you're using this medication, you should be aware that there's a slightly higher risk of complications with your eyes. Rapid improvement in your blood sugar control can sometimes temporarily worsen diabetic retinopathy. Make sure to keep a close eye on your eye health and follow your doctor's advice.
