Are there travel restrictions with Mounjaro pens?
There are no outright travel bans on taking Mounjaro pens (for weight loss) abroad from the UK, but you must follow some important rules: always pack them in your carry-on luggage, keep them in their original packaging with your prescription or a doctor’s note, and check the medication regulations for your destination country before you travel. Mounjaro pens must be kept cool (not frozen or above 30°C), and you should declare them at airport security if asked. Airport X-ray scanners do not affect the medication, but failing to follow these steps could cause problems at security or with your travel insurance.
- Pack Mounjaro pens in your carry-on bag, not checked luggage, to avoid temperature damage.
- Keep pens in original packaging with your prescription and/or a doctor’s note for proof at security.
- Check medication rules for your destination country before flying, as some places have restrictions.
- Use a cool bag to keep pens below 30°C and never let them freeze.
- Declare medication at airport security if asked, and store needles in a clear plastic bag.
- Inform your travel insurance provider that you are taking Mounjaro, or claims may be invalid.
