When it comes to choosing your medication there are so many different medications that knowing what to take for a particular problem can be confusing. You might not want to bother your doctor with something that doesn’t seem too serious… but how can you decide what medication is best to take?
Not sure which pain medication to take? Turn to the experts: us, doing the work to find out all the best ibuprofen reviews out there (and fact-checking them).
An increasing number of people turn to the internet regarding medical diagnosis and medication. But can you really trust what you read online? Well, yes (if you’re reading it here, of course), but you shouldn’t rely on it entirely.
A good example is the use of Ibuprofen for treating COVID-19. There was so much misinformation online about Ibuprofen that the European drugs agency was forced to review its safety – the results can be read in a report published on The BMJ.
If you’d like more reliable information about the efficacy of Ibuprofen, you should read a review that’s been published in the National Library of Medicine. Scientific evidence as to the effectiveness of a particular drug should always be taken into consideration. It can also be considered more reliable than consumer reviews.
In this article, you’ll find out what various websites (including us) are saying about Ibuprofen and whether you can rely on what you read.
What is Ibuprofen?
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is typically used to treat pain, inflammation, and fever. Conditions it can relieve include migraines, rheumatoid arthritis, and menstrual pain.
Ibuprofen is sold under various brand names including Brufen, Calprofen, Fenbid, Ibugel, Ibuleve, Addaprin, Advil, Bufen, Haltran, Ibu, Motrin, Proprinal, and many more.
You can purchase Ibuprofen over the counter without a prescription or you can purchase it online via a reliable site, such as medino.com. Ibuprofen is sold as tablets or capsules in doses of 200-400 mg. Dosage is one or two tablets up to three times a day after food.
What Are People Saying About Ibuprofen?
On the whole, consumer reviews about various Ibuprofen medications are positive. Here are some examples of the ratings found on some different websites:
- Pharmica.co.uk - 9.6/10
- Mypharmacy.co.uk - 4.97 rating
- Askapatient.com - 3.3 rating
- Medino.com - 4.93
These ratings all look quite favourable, until you check the number of ratings. Here are the total number of reviews that contribute to the company’s rating:
- Pharmica.co.uk - 69 reviews
- Mypharmacy.co.uk - 211 reviews
- Askapatient.com - 20 reviews
- Medino.com - 5000+ reviews
A common problem with relying on customer reviews is that they are often biased. In addition, the reviews are on sites that sell the products, which can often skew them.
How many people do you think have bought Ibuprofen from these websites? Significantly more than the number of reviews, right? On our site, we have more than 500 reviews for ibuprofen, but when you look closely, the majority are reviews of our company and the amazing service we provide. While it’s helpful to know that the place you’re buying from is reliable, this isn’t the feedback you want to know when you’re not sure whether a particular medication works.
If you’re going to use feedback when making your purchasing decisions, it’s much better to read some of the reviews rather than taking note of the numbers. The actual reviews customers leave can be really useful.
By reading these individual reviews, you’re also going to get a feel for whether the reviews are fake.
One website that shows some very positive reviews for Ibuprofen is drugs.com. It’s not an online store where you can buy the product: instead, it’s more of a community where consumers can write about their real-life experiences.
The average rating for Ibuprofen on drugs.com was 7.6/10, from 216 reviews. 64% of consumers reported a positive experience, while only 20% reported a negative experience. Reviews are also filtered according to various conditions, for example:
- Period pain
- Back pain
- Muscle pain
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- And many more
Ibuprofen Reviews on Various Sites
So – let’s look a little closer at what customers are writing on the sites we’ve mentioned above.
Pharmica.co.uk gives Ibuprofen a 9.6 out of 10 rating, which is based on 69 independent customer reviews taken by Feefo, Google, and Trustpilot. On the whole, the reviews provided give very little information. Here are some examples:
- "Great product, does exactly what you’d expect"
- "Thank you very much for this"
- "Did exactly what I needed, perfect, thank you"
- "Very good products"
One thing that’s worrying is that there are no negative reviews. This can often be an indication that the reviews are fake.
Mypharmacy.co.uk gives Ibuprofen a 4.97 rating. Out of how many this is scored, the site doesn’t say. However, it does state that the rating is based on only 211 reviews.
Take a closer look at the reviews and you’ll also see that there is very little information given. Here are some examples of what customers have written:
- "As described"
- "Great products"
- "They do what they are said to do"
- "Great price on a staple cupboard painkiller"
- "Great value and one less to swallow"
This website also has no negative reviews.
Askapatient.com takes a slightly different approach when it comes to product reviews. It gives people leaving feedback the opportunity to provide more details, such as the reason they were taking the medication and whether they felt any side effects. This information can be very helpful when you’re deciding which products to take for a particular issue.
At medino online pharmacy, we have a wide variety of products containing Ibuprofen on our site. The ratings for each of the products is 4.93 out of 5, based on 15705 reviews. In fact, this is the rating for our company and the service we provide.
However, if you look a little closer at the site, you’ll see that you can check out reviews for individual products by clicking on the rating stars. You’re then redirected to another page where you can see products rather than company reviews.
This is a great feature (if we say so ourself), but you will have to click on every product individually to see their rating.
