Warnings
Do not use this medicine if the person taking it is allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients.
Do not use it if the person taking it has a rare hereditary problem of fructose intolerance because this medicine contains maltitol liquid (E965).
Do not take or give any other medicine containing paracetamol while using this medicine.
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if the person taking this medicine has severe liver or kidney problems. People with alcohol-related liver disease may be at greater risk from paracetamol overdose, and people who regularly drink excessive amounts of alcohol should speak to a doctor before use.
Stop taking the medicine and seek medical advice if a skin rash or another sign of an allergic reaction develops. Sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E219) and sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E217) may cause allergic reactions, which can sometimes be delayed.
Tell a doctor or pharmacist about other medicines being taken. Paracetamol may interact with medicines including metoclopramide, domperidone, cholestyramine, warfarin and other coumarin anticoagulants, and medicines that affect liver enzymes such as some anticonvulsants.
Pregnancy: Paracetamol can be used during pregnancy if clinically needed. It should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time and as infrequently as possible.
Breastfeeding: Paracetamol passes into breast milk, but the available information does not indicate that breastfeeding needs to be avoided when paracetamol is used appropriately.
No adverse effects on the ability to drive or use machines are known.
Overdose can cause serious liver damage. If too much of this medicine is taken, seek medical help immediately even if the person feels well, because serious liver damage can be delayed.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Side Effects
| Frequency | Side effects |
|---|---|
| Uncommon | Kidney-related toxic effects have been reported following therapeutic doses of paracetamol. Papillary necrosis has also been reported following prolonged use. |
| Very rare | Serious skin reactions have been reported. Hypersensitivity and severe allergic reactions, including anaphylactic reactions and skin rash, may also occur very rarely. Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical attention if a serious allergic reaction or severe skin reaction develops. |
| Frequency not stated | Blood disorders including thrombocytopenia and agranulocytosis have been reported, although a direct causal relationship with paracetamol has not always been established. Low-level increases in liver enzymes may also occur. |
| Prolonged or excessive use | Liver damage has been reported after prolonged daily use and after excessive doses. Most reports of serious reactions to paracetamol are associated with overdose. |
