1. This pack size of Naproxen 250mg Tablets is not available over the counter. It's prescription-only, but we can supply it through our private PGD clinic for non-specific acute lower back pain once a trained pharmacist completes a clinical assessment.
2. You will start by completing the online clinical form. A pharmacist trained in providing this Back Pain Treatment will review your answers and then contact you to discuss them in more detail.

On the first day TWO tablets (500 mg) should be taken initially and then ONE tablet (250 mg) after 6 to 8 hours if needed. On the second and third day, if required, ONE tablet (250mg) should be taken every 6 to 8 hours. Not more than 3 tablets to be taken per day and for no longer than 28 days

Who cannot have this treatment?

Age and symptom severity

• Individuals under 18 years of age
• Individuals over 65 years of age
• Individuals with severe symptoms

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

• Known or suspected pregnancy
• Breast-feeding individuals

Allergies and hypersensitivity

• Hypersensitivity to naproxen, naproxen sodium, or any excipients
• History of asthma, rhinitis, nasal polyps, angioedema, urticaria, or other hypersensitivity reactions triggered by aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs

Gastrointestinal conditions

• History of, or active, peptic ulceration
• Active or previous gastrointestinal bleeding
• History of GI bleeding or perforation related to NSAID use
• History of gastrointestinal disease
• History of ulcers
• Haemorrhoids or predisposition to rectal bleeding

Cardiovascular conditions

• Congestive heart failure
• Ischaemic heart disease
• Peripheral arterial disease
• Cerebrovascular disease
• Cardiac impairment
• Moderate or severe hypertension
• Mild uncontrolled hypertension

Kidney, liver, and metabolic conditions

• Renal impairment
• Hepatic impairment
• Rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption

Medicines that interact (not exhaustive)

• Any naproxen-containing products
• Oral corticosteroids
• Anticoagulants or other coumarin derivatives
• Heparin
• Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or anti-platelet agents
• Other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, COX-2 inhibitors, aspirin)

As for all medications, Naproxen can cause side effects. Undesirable effects may be minimised by using the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms. If you are treated with NSAIDs long-term, you should undergo regular medical supervision to monitor for adverse events:

• Severe hepatic reactions, including jaundice and hepatitis
• Naproxen decreases platelet aggregation and prolongs bleeding time
• Exacerbation of bronchospasm, asthma or allergic disease
• Kidney toxicity
• Fluid retention, hypertension and oedema
• Increase in blood pressure
• Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding that can often manifest as really dark, black stools.
