Description
Cytoplan Cyto-Zyme 120 Capsules is a digestive enzyme food supplement. Each capsule combines seven plant-sourced enzymes (bromelain, lipase, protease, amylase, papain, lactase and cellulase) with betaine hydrochloride, a source of hydrochloric acid. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and you take 1 or 2 capsules a day with your main meal.
Key Features
- Seven plant-sourced enzymes: Cytoplan says the blend covers protein, fat, fibre, dairy, sugars and carbohydrates, and none of the enzymes are animal-derived.
- Hydrochloric acid included: Each capsule contains 75 mg of betaine hydrochloride. Hydrochloric acid is the acid the stomach produces as part of digestion.
- Chosen to withstand stomach acid: Cytoplan states the enzymes are largely resistant to degradation by stomach hydrochloric acid, and active across a wide range of pH.
- Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and people with Candida and yeast sensitivities: Free from GMO, wheat, soy, dairy, added sugar, colourings and flavourings.
- Flexible 1-2 capsule daily dose: A 120-capsule pot lasts 60 to 120 days, depending on whether you take 1 or 2 capsules a day.
What do the enzymes in Cyto-Zyme do?
Digestive enzymes are made naturally by the body to break food down into its basic components. In Cyto-Zyme, Cytoplan describes amylase as breaking down carbohydrates, protease as breaking down proteins, lipase as breaking down fats and lactase as breaking down lactose, the sugar in dairy products. Bromelain and papain are plant-derived protein-digesting enzymes, and cellulase acts on fibre.
Can I take Cyto-Zyme every day?
Yes, the directions allow 1 to 2 capsules daily with the main meal of the day. Cytoplan says a digestive enzyme supplement may also be beneficial for short-term use on holiday, when eating unfamiliar cuisines.
Who should not take Cyto-Zyme?
Cyto-Zyme is not recommended for children under 12 years old, or for pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should not be taken if peptic ulcers are present or suspected, or if there is a hiatus hernia or any inflammation of the digestive tract.
