How much DHA do I get from this fish oil?

Each capsule provides 220mg DHA, so the recommended 1 to 2 capsules daily provide 220mg to 440mg. The beneficial effect on normal brain function and normal vision is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of DHA, which is reached with 2 capsules but not with 1.

Does it contain enough EPA and DHA for heart health?

EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, with the beneficial effect obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of EPA and DHA combined. Each capsule provides 550mg of combined EPA and DHA, so 1 capsule exceeds that amount. Effects on blood pressure and triglycerides are linked to a much higher daily intake of 3g EPA and DHA, which is more than this product provides at 1 to 2 capsules a day.

Is this fish oil suitable for vegetarians?

No. It contains fish oil, and the capsule shell is made with gelatin from a bovine source. Cytoplan makes a separate Omega 3 Vegan product from marine algae.

Ingredients: Fish oil concentrate (from sardine and anchovy), mixed tocopherols (antioxidant), capsule shell (gelatin and glycerine).

Each capsule provides: 1000mg fish oil, 550mg total omega-3, 330mg EPA and 220mg DHA.
