Frontline Tri-Act for Dogs 20-40kg 3 Pack
What 500,000+ customers say about medino:
Description
Frontline Tri-Act Spot on Solution for Dogs 20-40 kg is a veterinary spot-on treatment that kills fleas and ticks on dogs and repels ticks, mosquitoes, sandflies and biting flies. This pack contains 3 pipettes of 4 ml, each one dose for a dog weighing 20 kg to 40 kg, so the dose can be matched to the dog's weight.
Key Features
- Fipronil and permethrin: Each 4 ml pipette contains 270.4 mg fipronil and 2019.2 mg permethrin.
- Fleas and ticks: It treats and prevents flea infestations and tick infestations. One treatment kills ticks and prevents new flea infestations for 4 weeks.
- Repels as well as kills: It repels ticks, and repels mosquitoes for 4 weeks and sandflies for 3 weeks. It also repels and kills stable flies for 5 weeks.
- Weight-specific pipette: This pack is for dogs weighing 20 kg to 40 kg. The same range is also made for 10 kg to 20 kg and 40 kg to 60 kg dogs, so check your dog's weight before buying.
- Part of flea allergy dermatitis management: It can be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis that a vet has already diagnosed.
How long does one treatment last?
One treatment prevents new flea infestations and kills and repels ticks for 4 weeks. Protection against sandflies lasts 3 weeks, and against stable flies 5 weeks. Depending on the parasite challenge, treatment may be repeated, with at least 4 weeks between two treatments.
Can my dog swim or be bathed after treatment?
The product stays effective against fleas if your dog is occasionally immersed in water, for example swimming or bathing. However, do not let your dog swim or be shampooed within 48 hours of treatment, and avoid frequent swimming or shampooing, as this may reduce how well the product keeps working.
Can I use it if I also have a cat?
Do not use this product on cats. Permethrin can cause potentially fatal convulsions in cats. Keep treated dogs away from cats until the application site is dry, and make sure cats do not groom the site. If a cat is exposed, wash it with shampoo or soap and contact a vet immediately.
Is it suitable for puppies?
The manufacturer does not recommend it for dogs younger than 8 weeks or weighing less than 2 kg. This 20 kg to 40 kg pack is only for dogs in that weight range, so a smaller puppy needs a different pipette size.
Ingredients
Active ingredients (per 4 ml pipette): Fipronil 270.4 mg and permethrin 2019.2 mg.
Other ingredients: N-methylpyrrolidone 1574.8 mg, butylhydroxytoluene (E321) 4.500 mg and medium-chain triglycerides.
Usage and Instructions
For external use on dogs only. Weigh your dog accurately, then use one 4 ml pipette for a dog weighing 20 kg to 40 kg.
- Remove the blister card from the box and separate one blister.
- Cut along the dotted line with scissors, or fold the marked corner and tear the blister open, to remove the pipette.
- Holding the pipette upright, away from your face and body, cut the tip off with scissors.
- Part the coat on the back of the neck until the skin is visible and place the tip of the pipette on the skin.
- Squeeze about half of the contents onto the middle of the neck, between the base of the skull and the shoulder blades.
- Repeat at the base of the neck, in front of the shoulder blades, to empty the pipette.
Apply the product directly to the skin rather than the hair, in the two spots where your dog cannot lick it. Treatment can be repeated if needed, with at least 4 weeks between two treatments. Dispose of the empty pipette straight away so that it cannot be reached.
Store in the original blister, and do not store above 25°C.
Warnings
Please read the following before use:
- Use on dogs only. Do not use in cats or rabbits, as adverse reactions and even death could occur.
- Do not use on sick or convalescent dogs, or if the dog is hypersensitive to the active substances or any excipient.
- Do not use at the same time as other flea, tick or fly products applied directly to the animal.
- Not recommended for dogs younger than 8 weeks or weighing less than 2 kg.
- Weigh your dog accurately before treatment. Using the wrong pipette size can increase the risk of adverse reactions.
- Apply where the dog cannot lick, and stop other animals licking the application site. Avoid contact with the dog's eyes. Seek veterinary advice if the product is swallowed or gets in the eyes.
- Keep treated dogs away from cats until the application site is dry.
- Safety has not been established in pregnant or lactating dogs or dogs used for breeding. Use only after a benefit-risk assessment by your vet.
- The product can cause skin and eye irritation and is harmful if swallowed. Avoid contact with skin and eyes, do not open the pipette towards your face, do not smoke, drink or eat during application, and wash your hands afterwards.
- If product gets in your eyes, flush with plenty of water. If it gets on your skin, wash with soap and water. If irritation persists or recurs, or you feel unwell after swallowing it, seek medical attention.
- People with known hypersensitivity to fipronil or permethrin should avoid contact with the product.
- Pregnant women, and women suspected of being pregnant, should not apply the product. Women of childbearing age should wear gloves when handling it.
- Do not handle treated dogs, or let children play with them, until the application site is dry. Treat in the early evening and do not let recently treated dogs sleep with their owners, especially children.
- Do not let treated dogs enter surface water for 2 days after treatment. The product may harm aquatic organisms, so do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with it or the empty pipette.
- Single ticks, mosquitoes or sandflies may still attach or bite, so transmission of disease by them cannot be completely excluded. Ticks already on the dog at application may not all be killed within 48 hours.
Side Effects
The following have been reported very rarely (fewer than 1 in 10,000 dogs treated, including isolated reports). This list is not exhaustive:
- Skin reactions at the application site, including discolouration, local hair loss, itching and redness, which are transient.
- General itching, hair loss and redness of the skin.
- Reversible nervous signs, including increased sensitivity to stimulation, hyperactivity, muscle tremor, lethargy and loss of coordination.
- Vomiting, not eating and increased salivation.
If a dog licks the application site, temporary increased salivation and vomiting may occur. In overdose studies, mild neurological signs, vomiting and diarrhoea were seen, which were temporary and generally resolved without treatment within 1 to 2 days.
