Description
Macleods Sildenafil 100mg Film-Coated Tablets (pack of 8) are a prescription treatment for erectile dysfunction in adult men. Each tablet contains 100 mg of sildenafil, a PDE5 inhibitor that helps relax the blood vessels in the penis so blood can flow in when a man is sexually excited. The 8-tablet blister pack supplies eight individual doses, each taken as needed before sex.
Key Features
- 100 mg sildenafil per tablet: Each film-coated tablet contains sildenafil citrate equivalent to 100 mg of sildenafil.
- Taken as needed: Taken about one hour before sex, no more than once a day, so there is no daily routine.
- Needs sexual stimulation: It only helps you get an erection if you are sexually stimulated.
- Easy to identify: Blue, diamond-shaped tablets debossed with ""CL 37"" on one side.
Is 100 mg the usual starting dose?
No. The leaflet for this medicine gives 50 mg as the recommended starting dose. The 100 mg tablet is for use when your doctor decides that dose suits you. If the effect seems too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Doses above 100 mg do not increase the effect.
Can I take it with food or alcohol?
These tablets can be taken with or without food, but they may take longer to work after a heavy meal. Drinking alcohol can temporarily impair your ability to get an erection, so avoid drinking excessive amounts before taking them.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. Sildenafil 100 mg tablets are a prescription-only medicine in the UK, and this leaflet states the medicine has been prescribed for you only. Do not pass it on to others.

Warnings
Do not take these tablets if any of the following apply:
- You are allergic to sildenafil or any other ingredient.
- You take nitrates (often used for chest pain) or nitric oxide donors such as amyl nitrite (""poppers""). The combination may cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure.
- You take riociguat.
- You have a severe heart or liver problem.
- You have recently had a stroke or heart attack, or you have low blood pressure.
- You have a rare inherited eye disease such as retinitis pigmentosa.

Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking them if you have:

Other important points:
- If you have a sudden decrease or loss of vision, stop taking the tablets and contact your doctor immediately.
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you take. Protease inhibitors (for HIV) and alpha-blockers may mean your doctor starts you on 25 mg. Tell them too if you take sacubitril/valsartan.
- Do not use with any other oral or local treatment for erectile dysfunction, or with sildenafil or other PDE5 inhibitors for pulmonary arterial hypertension.
- Not for use by women or anyone under 18, or by anyone without erectile dysfunction.
- The tablets can cause dizziness and affect vision, so check how you react before driving or using machinery.
