Numark Hayfever Relief 2% w/v Eye Drops 10ml contain sodium cromoglicate, an anti-allergic medicine used to relieve and treat eye symptoms caused by hayfever, also known as seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. Each 1ml of this eye drop solution contains 20mg of sodium cromoglicate.

These eye drops help relieve symptoms such as itchy, watery, red or inflamed eyes and puffy eyelids caused by exposure to grass or tree pollen. They are intended for adults, including older adults, and children over 6 years of age.

The usual dose is one or two drops in each affected eye four times a day. The 10ml bottle has a dropper applicator for direct use in the eyes. Ask a pharmacist if you need further information or advice about using this medicine.

Main ingredients: Sodium cromoglicate 20mg per 1ml of solution (2% w/v). Each drop contains approximately 0.7mg of sodium cromoglicate.

Excipients: Disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, water for injections.

Numark Hayfever Relief 2% w/v Eye Drops are used to relieve and treat eye symptoms caused by hayfever, including itching, redness, watering, inflammation and puffy eyelids.

Adults, including older adults, and children over 6 years: Apply one or two drops into each affected eye four times daily. Do not use the drops more frequently than recommended.

This medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age.

Wash your hands before use. Check that the tamper-proof seal is intact before using the bottle for the first time. Remove the cap, tilt your head backwards and gently pull down the lower eyelid. Apply one or two drops inside the lower eyelid without allowing the bottle tip to touch the eye, eyelid or surrounding area. Close the eye and wipe away any excess liquid with a clean tissue. Replace the cap immediately after use and repeat for the other eye if required.

Use the drops regularly each day while high pollen levels are expected. If your eyes have not started to improve after two days, speak to a doctor or pharmacist. Do not use continuously for more than 14 days unless advised to do so by a doctor or pharmacist.

Remove contact lenses before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.

If you forget a dose, use the drops when you remember. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as normal. Do not use a double dose.

Contact a doctor if you use the drops more frequently than recommended. Discard any solution remaining four weeks after first opening the bottle.

Do not use Numark Hayfever Relief 2% w/v Eye Drops if you or your child are allergic to sodium cromoglicate or any of the other ingredients.

Do not use this medicine in children under 6 years of age. Do not use it for eye allergies that are not caused by hayfever unless advised by a doctor or pharmacist.

Hayfever usually affects both eyes and may occur alongside a runny or blocked nose during periods when grass or tree pollen levels are high. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if only one eye is affected, your eyesight is affected, you do not have nasal symptoms, the symptoms occur outside the usual hayfever season or another allergy may be responsible.

This medicine contains benzalkonium chloride, which may cause eye irritation. It may be absorbed by soft contact lenses and can alter their colour. Remove contact lenses before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Speak to a doctor if you experience unusual sensations, persistent stinging or pain in the eye, particularly if you have dry eyes or a disorder affecting the cornea.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask a doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. Sodium cromoglicate should be used during pregnancy only where there is a clear need. It is not known whether it passes into breast milk, although this is considered unlikely.

No formal interaction studies have been performed. Ask a doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine with other eye preparations or medicines if you are unsure.

The drops may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after use. Do not drive, cycle, use tools or operate machinery until your vision is clear. This medicine is not expected to cause drowsiness, and the leaflet does not specify an interaction with alcohol.

Stop using the drops and seek medical advice as soon as possible if itching, redness or swelling becomes worse. Seek urgent medical help if you develop difficulty breathing or swallowing, a rash, or swelling of the lips, face, throat or tongue.

Contact a doctor if you use the drops more frequently than recommended. Accidental ingestion is unlikely to cause an overdose, but medical advice should be obtained if you are concerned.
