What is Nystatin

Nystatin is an antifungal oral suspension used to treat oral thrush (candidiasis), a common fungal infection of the mouth and throat. It works by binding to the fungal cell membrane, causing it to leak and leading to the death of the fungus. Nystatin provides local treatment in the mouth without being absorbed into the bloodstream, making it safe and effective for both adults and children.

Who is Nystatin for

Nystatin is suitable for individuals aged 4 weeks and older who have been diagnosed with oral thrush or show symptoms such as white patches inside the mouth, soreness, or difficulty swallowing.

This treatment is recommended for people who:

1. Have visible signs of oral thrush confirmed by a healthcare professional.
2. Are not allergic to Nystatin or any of its ingredients.
3. Are not currently using another antifungal treatment for the same condition without medical advice.

If symptoms persist or worsen after 7 days of treatment, consult a healthcare professional.

• Shake the bottle well before each use.
• Measure the prescribed dose using the supplied dropper or oral syringe.
• Swish the liquid around the mouth for as long as possible, then swallow.
• Use four times daily, after meals and before bedtime.
• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.

• Do not use if you are allergic to Nystatin or any listed ingredients.

Nystatin is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include:
