Description
Otrivine Child Nasal Drops 10ml help clear a blocked nose in children aged 6–12 years by reducing excessive nasal secretions and swollen blood vessels so breathing feels more free and calm. The drops contain xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.05%, a nasal decongestant used for colds, perennial and allergic rhinitis and sinusitis. Parents who want a fast, local treatment without an oral syrup often pick this style of child nose drop.
Key Features
- Fast child nose relief: Acts within minutes to ease blocked noses from colds, sinus issues and hay fever.
- Targeted nasal action: Local drop dose works on nasal blood vessels and mucus, not the whole body.
- Suited for ages 6–12: Formulated at 0.05% strength for children, with clear UK dosing advice.
- Lasting clear nose support: Can give relief for many hours, to help sleep and calm night wakes.
- Helps with allergy stuffy nose: Useful for hay fever and other nasal allergy flare days.
- Short course safety focus: Use for up to five days to cut risk of rebound nasal stuffiness.
Is Otrivine Child Nasal Drops right for my child?
Otrivine Child Nasal Drops are right for most children aged 6–12 with a blocked or stuffy nose from colds or hay fever, who need short term help to breathe with more ease. It is not for children under six, or for any child with known allergy to xylometazoline or any drop ingredient. Extra care is needed if your child has heart issues, thyroid disease, high blood pressure or is taking other decongestants, so a check with a pharmacist or clinician is advised
How fast does it work and how long does relief last?
Otrivine Child Nasal Drops usually work within minutes. The effect lasts for several hours. Duration varies, but relief typically supports breathing comfort through key parts of the day or night.
How long can my child stay on Otrivine Child Nasal Drops?
Use should not exceed five consecutive days due to the risk of rebound congestion, where symptoms worsen after stopping. If the blocked nose continues beyond five days or returns often, consult a GP to explore other causes or treatments.
