Description
Panadol Extra Advance 500 mg/65 mg 16 Tablets are film-coated pain relief tablets containing paracetamol 500 mg and caffeine 65 mg per tablet. They are used to relieve headache, including migraine, backache, toothache, rheumatic pain and period pain. They can also relieve sore throat and the fever, aches and pains associated with colds and flu.
Paracetamol relieves pain and reduces fever, while caffeine helps the effectiveness of paracetamol. The tablets are intended for adults and children aged 12 years and over, with different doses according to age. The 16 tablet pack contains tablets for oral use that can be taken as needed, with at least four hours between doses.
Ingredients
Each Panadol Extra Advance tablet contains:
- Paracetamol 500 mg
- Caffeine 65 mg
Other ingredients: pregelatinised starch, povidone K-25, calcium carbonate, crospovidone, alginic acid, magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose. The coating contains titanium dioxide (E171), hypromellose, macrogol, polysorbate 80 and carnauba wax.
Usage and Instructions
For relief of headache, migraine, backache, rheumatic pain, toothache, period pain, and the fever, aches and pains associated with colds and flu.
- Adults and children 16 years and over: 2 tablets every 4 hours as required. Maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours.
- Children 12-15 years: 1 tablet every 4 hours as required. Maximum 4 tablets in 24 hours.
- Not for children under 12 years.
- Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours.
Warnings
Do not use with other paracetamol-containing medicines. Seek medical advice before use if you have liver or kidney problems, are underweight, regularly drink alcohol, have severe illness/infection or malnutrition, or take flucloxacillin.
Avoid excessive caffeine. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Taking too much paracetamol requires immediate medical attention, even if you feel well.
Side Effects
Stop taking the medicine and seek medical advice for:
- Severe allergic reactions, swelling or shortness of breath
- Skin rash, peeling or mouth ulcers
- Breathing problems
- Unexplained bruising or bleeding
- Nausea with sudden weight loss, loss of appetite or yellowing of the skin/eyes
- Symptoms of metabolic acidosis
