What is Proctosedyl Suppositories
Proctosedyl Suppositories contain two active ingredients, hydrocortisone and cinchocaine hydrochloride. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, itching, and discharge, while cinchocaine is a local anaesthetic that relieves pain and sphincteric spasm. Together, they provide short-term relief from the pain, irritation, and itching associated with haemorrhoids and pruritus ani.
Who are Proctosedyl Suppositories for
Proctosedyl Suppositories are suitable for adults, the elderly, and children over 16 years who require short-term relief from haemorrhoids or anal itching. They are not suitable for anyone who is allergic to hydrocortisone, cinchocaine, or any of the other ingredients, or for those with local infections in the affected area.

Usage and Instructions
- Wash hands before and after use.
- Remove one suppository from its packaging and peel away the plastic shell.
- Insert gently into the rectum, ideally after a bowel movement.
- Use twice daily (morning and evening) or as directed by a healthcare professional.
- Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C.
Warnings
- For rectal use only.
- Do not use if you are allergic to hydrocortisone, cinchocaine, or any of the ingredients.
- Avoid use in the presence of infections.
- Prolonged or extensive use may lead to systemic absorption and adrenal suppression, especially in infants.
- Visual disturbance such as blurred vision may occur; seek medical advice if this happens.
