What 500,000+ customers say about medino:
Description
Solgar Ester-C Plus Immune Complex 60 Softgels is a food supplement that combines vitamin C (as Ester-C), vitamins A, B6, B12 and D3, folic acid and zinc with the botanical ingredients elderberry, echinacea and astragalus. Vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D and zinc each contribute to the normal function of the immune system. Two softgels a day provide 1000 mg of vitamin C as Ester-C, and Solgar describes the softgels as easy to swallow.
Key Features
- Seven nutrients that contribute to normal immune function: Each softgel provides vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin D3 and zinc, all at 47% or more of the nutrient reference value (NRV).
- Ester-C vitamin C: Each softgel provides 500 mg of vitamin C as Ester-C, a non-acidic form that Solgar describes as gentle on the stomach.
- Three botanical ingredients: Each softgel contains 8.5 mg of elderberry, 8.25 mg of echinacea and 8.25 mg of astragalus. Solgar says these botanicals have a long history of use.
- Free from common additives: The label states the softgels are free of gluten, wheat, dairy, soya, yeast, preservatives, artificial flavours and sweeteners.
How long does a 60-softgel pack last?
At the directed 2 softgels a day, a pack of 60 softgels lasts 30 days.
Is it suitable for vegans or vegetarians?
No. The softgel shell contains gelatin from bovine sources, and the softgel also contains yellow beeswax.
Can I take it with other vitamin or mineral supplements?
Check the total amounts you take from all supplements. Two softgels a day provide 1000 mg of vitamin C, 750 micrograms of vitamin A, 15 micrograms of vitamin D and 15 mg of zinc. The NHS gives these limits for supplements: more than 1,000 mg of vitamin C a day can cause stomach symptoms, no more than 1.5 mg (1,500 micrograms) of vitamin A a day from food and supplements combined, no more than 100 micrograms of vitamin D a day for adults, and no more than 25 mg of zinc a day unless a doctor advises it.

Warnings
Please note the following:
- Do not exceed the directions for use of 2 softgels a day.
- Two softgels provide 750 micrograms of vitamin A. The NHS advises that your total vitamin A from food and supplements should not exceed 1.5 mg (1,500 micrograms) a day, and that if you eat liver every week you should not take supplements containing vitamin A.
- The NHS advises taking no more than 25 mg of zinc supplements a day unless a doctor advises it. Two softgels provide 15 mg of zinc.
- The NHS advises not taking more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day as it could be harmful. Two softgels provide 15 micrograms.
- Food supplements should not be used instead of a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Side Effects
Solgar does not list side effects for this product. The NHS describes the following effects of taking too much of some of its nutrients:
- Vitamin C: large amounts (more than 1,000 mg a day) can cause stomach pain, diarrhoea and flatulence. Two softgels provide 1000 mg.
- Zinc: high doses reduce the amount of copper the body can absorb, which can lead to anaemia and weakening of the bones.
- Vitamin D: taking too many supplements over a long period can cause too much calcium to build up in the body (hypercalcaemia), which can weaken the bones and damage the kidneys and heart.
