Description
Vicks Sinex Soother Nasal Spray offers fast and soothing relief from a blocked nose due to common cold, rhinitis or sinusitis and lasts up to 8 hours.
Ingredients
Active Ingredients: 1ml Solution contains: Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride 0.5mg
Other Ingredients: Sorbitol, Sodium Citrate Dihydrate (for pH-adjustment), Tyloxapol Chlorhexidine Digluconate Solution, Citric Acid Anhydrous (for pH-adjustment), Benzalkonium Chloride Solution, Acesulfame Potassium, Menthol (Levo), Cineole, Disodium Edetate (Dihydrate), Aloes Dry Extract, Carvone (Levo), Sodium Hydroxide (for pH-adjustment), Purified Water
Usage and Instructions
Adults and children over 12 years:
1-2 sprays in each nostril, no more than 2-3 times daily. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If you forget a dose, do not take a double dose to make up for it. Instead, please continue to use according to the usage instructions.
Children under 12 years of age:
Not recommended.
Warnings
Who should seek medical advice before using this product:
-People with heart disease.
-People with high blood pressure (hypertension).
-People with an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism).
-People with diabetes.
-People with raised pressure in the eyeball (closed angle glaucoma).
-Men with an enlarged prostate gland.
-People with kidney or liver problems.
Not usually recommended for use during pregnancy. This is because they work by constricting blood vessels and their safety in pregnancy has not been established. Ask your doctor, pharmacist or midwife for further advice.
It's not known if oxymetazoline passes into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding you should ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.
If you're taking any other medicines, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, you should always check with your doctor or pharmacist before using Vicks sinex soother as well, to make sure that the combination is safe.
You should not use Vicks sinex soother if you are currently taking a type of medicine called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), or have taken one of these medicines in the last 14 days. This is because the combination could cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis). MAOIs include the antidepressants phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and moclobemide, and the anti-Parkinson's medicines selegiline, rasagiline and safinamide.
Side Effects
The nasal spray has a relatively local effect in the nose and side effects on other parts of the body are extremely unlikely. These are some of the most common side effect associated with Oxymetazoline:
-Discomfort or irritation in the nose, mouth or throat.
-Sneezing.
-Eye irritation, dryness, discomfort or redness.
