What symptoms or conditions can be treated with Sinex Micromist?
Vicks Sinex Micromist is used for relieving a blocked nose (nasal congestion) associated with colds, sinusitis, or nasal allergies like hay fever. It's suitable for adults and children 12 years and over.
What is the active ingredient in Vicks Sinex Micromist and how does it work?
Vicks Sinex Micromist contains oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.05% which is a type of decongestant. When sprayed into the nose, the active ingredient causes blood vessels in the nasal passages and sinuses to narrow and contract, reducing swelling, congestion, and mucus production.
How do I use Vicks Sinex Micromist?
One to two sprays in each nostril every 6-8 hours as needed, avoiding the eyes. The spray can be used for up to a week, but not for more than 7 days continuously. Don't use the spray if it's been more than 28 days since opening, and each spray should only be used by one person.
Who should not use Vicks Sinex Micromist?
Children under 12, people with nasal or skin damage, after brain surgery, trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy, phaeochromocytoma, phenelzine or similar medicines in the last 14 days, or any ingredient allergies.
Who should get medical advice before using Vicks Sinex Micromist?
People with heart disease, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, closed-angle glaucoma, enlarged prostate gland, or kidney/liver problems.
Can Vicks Sinex Micromist be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Decongestants like Vicks Sinex Micromist are not recommended for use during pregnancy due to safety concerns. It's not known if oxymetazoline passes into breast milk, so consult a doctor before using if breastfeeding.
What are the possible side effects of Vicks Sinex Micromist?
Side effects may include discomfort or irritation in the nose, mouth, or throat, sneezing, eye irritation, dryness, discomfort or redness, feeling sick, headache, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, irritability, fast heartbeat, and increased blood pressure.
