Description
Gaviscon Infant Sachets prevents stomach reflux by stabilising the stomach contents to reduce the occurance of reflux and bringing up of feeds.
Reflux is the process by which the stomach contents flow back up the tube that leads from the mouth to the stomach, which can cause an infant to be sick, spit up more than normal and become distressed. Sugar free and are suitable for infants aged 1 to 2 years.
Ingredients
Each sachet contains Sodium Alginate 225mg and Magnesium Alginate 87.5mg.
Usage and Instructions
Infants under 4.5kg (10lb) Give one sachet
Infants over 4.5kg (10lb)
Give two sachets.
Bottle fed infants up to 2 years of age: mix each sachet into 115ml (4 fluid oz) of feed in the bottle, shake well and feed the infant as normal. Give Gaviscon Infant at the end of each meal using a spoon or feeding bottle
Breast fed infants and other infants up to 2 years: mix each sachet with 5ml (1 teaspoon) of cooled, boiled water until a smooth paste is formed. Add another 10ml (2 teaspoons) of cooled, boiled water and mix. For breast fed infants give Gaviscon Infant part way through each feed or meal using a spoon or feeding bottle.
If your baby is under one year old, you should ask your doctor before giving Gaviscon Infant.
Gaviscon Infant is also not appropriate for use in children over two years of age, adults or elderly people.
Sterile powder for oral administration. Prepare immediately before use, as directed below. Do not give more than six times in 24 hours.
Warnings
Gaviscon is not to be used by infants under 1 year of age, except under medical supervision.
Do not use Gaviscon Infant with other food thickening agents or infant milk preparations containing a thickening agent.
Do not use more than the stated amount.

Each sachet is security sealed. Do not use if damaged.
If your infant has been put on a low sodium (salt) diet ask your doctor or other health professional before taking the product. Do not store above 30C.
Infants with a gut blockage, known or suspected kidney problems should not take Gaviscon Infant.
Gaviscon is not appropriate for use in children over two years of age, adults or elderly people.

Side Effects
May have a laxative effect and cause diarrhoea due to the product's mannitol content.
