How is Lamberts Turmeric Fast Release different from Lamberts Turmeric 20,000mg?
Lamberts Turmeric Fast Release has 200mg of turmeric root extract per tablet, equivalent to 10,000mg of turmeric spice, and disintegrates in less than 30 minutes. Lamberts Turmeric 20,000mg has 500mg of extract per tablet, equivalent to 20,000mg of turmeric spice, and disintegrates in less than 1 hour. Both are standardised to provide 95% curcuminoids and are taken as 1 tablet a day. Lamberts directs the 20,000mg tablet to men aged 18 and over and women aged 50 and over, for short term use only. Lamberts lists neither restriction for Turmeric Fast Release.
What does "standardised to 95% curcuminoids" mean?
Standardised means the extract is made to contain a set proportion of a particular compound group. In this product, 95% of the extract is curcuminoids, the level Lamberts says is generally used in studies. Each tablet contains 200mg of this extract, which Lamberts states is equivalent to 10,000mg of turmeric spice.
Can I take Lamberts Turmeric Fast Release with other medicines or if I have liver or gallbladder problems?
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist first if you take other medicines. Welsh NHS medicines advice says blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin need particular care with turmeric, and that turmeric should be avoided if you have gallstones, liver disease or other biliary disease. The Food Standards Agency's Committee on Toxicity has also linked turmeric supplements with rare cases of liver injury.
